ABOUT
Uzwelo Home is a residential child and youth care centre that offers 54 neglected, abused and traumatised boys and girls between the ages of 2 -21 years a loving and caring therapeutic environment and a range of holistic services.

Uzwelo Home has structured the programme in such a way that 8 children of the same sex form a cluster family with 1 (one) care giver/ one relief care giver attending to their daily needs.
PROGRAMMES
A wide range of services focussing on the individual needs of
children are offered, Individual development plans are monitored by the multi-disciplinary team.
A child’s best interest is of paramount importance in all matters concerning the care, protection and
well-being of a child.

MEET THE CHILDREN
Uzwelo Home operates in accordance with the requirements of the Children’s Act and admissions are sanctioned by a children’s court enquiry process.
Children admitted are being in need of care and protection, including a child that:
has been abandoned or orphaned and is without any visible means of support;
is in a state of physical or mental neglect;
is being maltreated, abused, deliberately neglected or degraded;
has been exploited or lives in circumstances that expose him or her to exploitation;
displays behaviour which cannot be controlled by the parent or caregiver;
Children admitted are being in need of care and protection, including a child that:
has been trafficked;
is addicted to a dependence-producing substance and is without any support to obtain treatment;
lives in, or is exposed to, circumstances which may seriously harm that child’s physical, mental or social well-being; or
if there is reason to believe that the child will live in, or be exposed to, seriously harmful circumstances if he or she is returned to the parent, guardian or caregiver.
